Review : Bombay Perfumery Women Fragrances

November 22, 2016

When I read “Chai Musk” I thought it was created by a person who has so many memories linked to tea, memories of bunking college, taking a stroll on the beach with a lover and sipping tea. Or staying awake during exams and sharing a chai from the canteen. Suddenly came a pretty lady, blonde hair, tall and poised. We started with a conversation and later on I realised that she was the creator of Chai Musk. It was great to learn how anything and every little thing can inspire an artist, can inspire a perfumer. Alexandra told me her story behind Chai Musk, how a local chai wala was adding lemon grass and the aroma caught her senses. Amongst others was our most loved Pooja Dhingra, who created 1020. As you think, this is not a sweet, confectionary whiff. It is strong, unisexual and one of the most appealing smells ever. Read on to know about the 5 woman fragrance from Bombay Perfumery. You may want to relax and lay on the bed cuz this will take you down the memory lane !

Seven Islands:

Pristine white sands glisten in the sun. A low tide teases the edge of the beach and slowly slinks away to visit her other suitor, gathered around the wait

Top : Bergamot, Mandarin, Neroli

Heart : Rose, Jasmine, Violet

Base : White Musk, Cedarwood

Olfactive Family : Fruity, Marine

My Take : This one has a very sweet, fruity note with woody undertones. It reminds me of a sunny afternoon. Absolutely love the happy note it has. Would be perfect for a girly Sunday brunch, summers or high tea with a lover.

Madurai Talkies:

Memories filtered through tones of sepia. A woman with flowers in her hair. A suitor dressed like the hero from the movie they’ve both come to watch. Or rather, live

Top : Bergamot, Mandarin, Neroli

Heart : Rose, Jasmine, Violet

Base : White Musk, Cedarwood

Olfactive Family : Floral

My Take : Floral, reminds me of jasmine. It has a very strong appeal. Would be great for evening or night wear. Will definitely make you stand out in the crowd.

On the edge of your vision lies a dream. You see it, but not quite clear. It entices you, pulls you forward but remains out of reach. Always behind a blurry veil, always irresistible

Top : Cardamom, Cassis bud, Neroli

Heart : Tuberose, Jasmine Sambac, Apricot

Base : Sandalwood, Cashmeran, Leather

Olfactive Family : Floral, Leather

My Take: Reminds me of a strong lady. It has a spicy, leathery and woody undertones. Though a hint of flowers peep through.

Chai Musk:

A busy terminal. Strands of life intersecting, weaving together in anticipation of a shared journey. Stories exchanged, stories forgotten. The only constant, myriad cups of tea.

Top : Lemongrass, Ginger root, Green Tea

Heart : Osmanthus flower, Mate, Roasted Nut accord

Base : Cade oil, Sandalwood, Hot milk accord

Olfactive Family: Citrus, Musk

My Take: Love this one. It is a strong woody, musky drama. A unisexual smell. You will be confused with the hits showing up. This one is great for days, it kick starts you. Keeps you going. Full of energy just like a cup of chai !

Streaks of red across a late afternoon sky. A breeze takes away with it, remnants of heat. A quiet sort of respite is breathed into the landscape. Momentary, but enough

Top : Bergamot, Lemon, Ginger oil, Red Berry, Pepper, Spearmint

Heart : Cyclamen, Jasmin, Palmarosa, Elemi

Base : Cedarwood, Patchouli, Vetiver, Ciste Labdanum, Myrr, Musk

My Take: Again a smell to wake up your senses. It has woody and spicy undertones. A very unisexual and appealing aroma. I would call it the smell of domination, courage and confidence. A very bossy smell with hints of peppy lemon

Absolutely in love with these babies. You will surely be wearing something which will keep you standing out in a crowd. You will definitely find your perfect match here !
